Leglsiators received news today, August 26th, that the state's budget is at a deficit of 1.3 billion for 2009. The Governor and Democratic leadership insisted on a 9% cut across the board when we were at 577 million, rather than call a special session of the legislature to prioritize services, cut spending and minimize job loss. Now once again, Republicans are calling for a special session to employ cost saving tactics that will reduce the need to cut vital services. We'd love to hear your thoughts on whether or not a special session or across-the-board cuts are the most effective way to handle the budget deficit.
