Senator Chris Telfer

Chris Telfer is currently serving her first term as the Republican State Senator for District 27, representing Deschutes County in Central Oregon. Chris announced in October, 2011, her run for re-election to her Senate seat. Chris, who according to the latest polls is favored more than 2 to 1 by the 83% of voters in her district for whom her name is familiar, is currently unopposed.
Chris has been a Certified Public Accountant for nearly 30 years and presently owns a CPA practice catering to non-profit organizations. She is a longtime small business owner, community leader, former Bend City Councilwoman and highly respected fiscally conservative elected official.
Chris has seen the changes, growth, and struggles over the 33 years she's lived in Oregon. She believes that the state should operate and budget just as a family or business is required to do. The budget is in disarray and she is now working on solutions. As a CPA, Chris is the only individual currently serving in the Oregon Legislature with financial expertise. Her input and opinions are highly valued by her fellow legislators and when she speaks, they listen.
